Fewer Layers. More Envelopment.

The Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility takes advantage of the Axiom Difference. It is designed to provide increased immersion and envelopment, using a Hydrolite fluid bladder instead of the Viscoelastic Foam used in the Axiom SP Visco.

Hydrolite Fluid Bladder

The Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility uses a Hydrolite fluid bladder instead of Viscoelastic Foam. The bladder rests directly under the stretched outer cover, allowing it to conform to the tissues supporting the Ischial Tuberosities.

Hydrolite is a non-Newtonian fluid that behaves as a solid under the force of gravity but flows as a viscous fluid under load, which can help minimise shear. It is also incredibly light, eliminating the “weight penalty” of other fluid cushions. It is less temperature sensitive than other fluids, providing more consistent performance regardless of climate.

Increased Envelopment

Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility is designed to provide increased envelopment, allowing the trochanters to bear an effective load. This improves stability by widening the base of support and reduces the load the tissue that supports the Ischial Tuberosities must bear.

High-Quality Foam Materials

Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility is constructed with foam with high IFD and density. The dual-density polyurethane foam base offers firm support in the lower layer with a durable comfort layer on top. High-quality materials lead to a long-lasting, comfortable, and high-performing product.

Surface Tension Reduction

The Hydrolite fluid bladder sits on the waterproof inner cover, reducing surface tension and maximising the ischia and coccyx envelopment. The bladder rests directly under the stretched outer cover, allowing it to conform to the tissues supporting the Ischial Tuberosities. The super 4-way stretch Lycra outer cover material reduces surface tension, providing better immersion into the well.

Pre-Contoured Shape

All cushions need to have a properly designed pre-contoured shape. That’s why we cooperated with Georgia Tech to study anthropometrics. Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility has a properly designed pre-contoured shape. Axiom SP Fluid is designed to provide increased immersion, allowing the trochanters to bear an effective load, widening the base of support, and reducing the load the Ischial Tuberosities must bear.

Feature Rich Covers

The Axiom SP Fluid wheelchair cushion by Ki Mobility has an innovative cover that is aesthetically pleasing and has functional benefits for both the client and caregiver. The super 4-way stretch Lycra outer cover reduces surface tension, while the pleated 4-way stretch inner cover with a self-sealing zipper is water-resistant and easy to clean. The water-resistant and loop zipper pull make it simple to don and doff the cover while protecting the foam. There is an easy-to-reach front handle with utility loops for hanging accessories.

Pre-Contoured Shape

Pre Contoured Shape Axiom AS - ASP Ki Mobility Cushion

Axiom cushions are pre-contoured to facilitate loading the trochanters, decrease ischial loading and improve lateral stability.

Anthropometrics

Anthropometrics Axiom AS - ASP Ki Mobility Cushion

We cooperated with Georgia Tech to study actual pelvic dimensions and other human measurements. This was critical to designing the cushion’s contours to fit the broad range of users properly.

Surface Tension Reduction

Surface Tension Reduction Axiom AS - ASP Ki Mobility Cushion

The ischial bladders rest directly under the outer layer of the cover. The super 4-way stretch Lycra outer cover material significantly reduces surface tension, providing better immersion.

We offer three levels of seating assessments, from essential wheelchair seating prescriptions to advanced, custom-moulded solutions for complex postural and pressure relief needs.

Level 1: Standard Seating Evaluation (Free of charge: Included in your product assessment)

Our standard assessment ensures your wheelchair or powerchair has the right cushion and backrest for your needs. Whether in our clinic or at home, this service is part of your tailored wheelchair assessment to maximise comfort and mobility.
