Off-road Trekinetic K2, lightweight, all-terrain wheelchair.

Utilising cutting-edge Formula 1 technology, the K2 was designed as an off-road manual wheelchair that pushes the limits of what an off-road wheelchair should be capable of. Built in the UK from start to finish, this is one of the most advanced off-road manual wheelchairs available.

Three all-terrain wheels are better than four off-road!

Did you know that a three-sided structure is stronger than a four-sided structure? This is because the force is better distributed across all sides. Our three-wheel drive system ensures your body weight is evenly distributed across all wheels, improving stability and traction, especially on off-road uneven surfaces in manual wheelchairs.

Ultimately, the Trekinetic K2 wheelchair is off-road by design.

Putting the big wheels at the front allows the Trekinetic K2 to cope with any off-road terrain you can throw at it, be it an on or off-road manual wheelchair. It’s perfectly at home over mud, sand, snow and gravel but is also versatile enough to use around town, making light work of off-road cobbles and cracked pavements. This means less time staring at the floor and more time enjoying the view.

Better propulsion off-road manual wheelchair

Trekinetic’s front-wheel-drive system also means the user’s back is fully supported when pushing. This means you don’t have to push your off-road manual wheelchair as hard to create the same force to propel forward. Like a weightlifter, it’s easier when your back is fully supported.

Engineered for versatility, adapt Trekinetic K2 for adventurous adults and children!

Off-road manual wheelchair stability requires a wider wheelbase. Indoor practicality requires a narrow wheelbase. Our patented Varicam system allows you to change the angle of the wheels by simply turning a bar under the seat. 0-16 degrees in 10 seconds. Zero tools are required.

It is possible to be comfortable and achieve more with your off-road manual wheelchair ride!

Trekinetic’s patented rear shock absorber ensures a smooth ride every time by soaking up any off-road manual wheelchair uncomfortable cobbles, cracks, lumps and bumps you might encounter on your journey.

Off-road manual wheelchairs are made as efficient as possible, so we like it when one device performs two functions. Our unique shock absorber also acts as a tilt-in-space mechanism to alter the seat’s angle and change the chair’s weight distribution. This is particularly useful when going downhill.

Carbon fibre is the new black!

Like most off-road modern vehicles, manual wheelchairs, Trekinetic has done away with the traditional metal chassis and replaced it with a super lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis. This reduces the chair’s weight whilst keeping it strong and results in a seat that resembles the human form more closely. This typically means less padding and more support.

Dynamic braking system

The unique dynamic braking system means you can slow, stop, or even turn the chair without touching the wheels. It can also be used as a parking brake when you want to get in or out of the chair.

Easy to transport

The Trekinetic K2 off-road wheelchair is uniquely designed to fold down and fit into a small vehicle with minimal effort.

The front wheels come off with a simple button click, and the rear castor folds behind the seat. Simple.

Crash tested

For those who need to stay in the chair whilst in a vehicle, the Trekinetic K2 is crash tested to ISO 7176-19 when using the Trekinetic 5-Point Vehicle Restraint System.

Standard Features

Carbon Fibre Seat

Ergonomically moulded to follow the contours of the human body, Trekinetic’s unique carbon fibre seat has been designed to optimise pressure loading and provide support exactly where it’s needed. It’s available in two sizes, 16” (40cm) and 19” (48cm) and can be used in conjunction with a variety of cushions, supports and 3rd party seating.

Padded Seat Lining

The internal pads provide a soft yet supportive layer that can be used independently or with additional cushioning. It can also be removed if you need extra room or want to add 3rd party seating.

24-inch Wheels

All Trekinetic chairs use pneumatic 24” tyres that are big enough to roll over anything off-road manual wheelchair but small enough to roll under a table or desk. Choose smooth or mountain bike tyres as standard, or upgrade to extra-wide whitewall or Blackwall tyres, which are great for the beach off-road manual wheelchair. Spare sets of wheels are available if required.

Tyre armour

24″ mountain bike tyres with tyre armour in the front wheels and heavy-duty sealant in the rear wheel, eliminating 99% of punctures.

Locking Camber System

Our patented Varicam system allows you to change the angle of the wheels by simply turning a bar under the seat. Set the bar to ‘Mean’ for extra stable, off-road use and ‘Lean’ for indoor use. Now includes a locking mechanism for reduced maintenance. Zero tools are required.

Nitrogen Shock Absorber

The patented rear shock absorber helps ensure a smooth ride at all times while also acting as a tilt-in-space mechanism to alter the angle of the seat and change the weight distribution in the chair.

A new update for the Mk3 includes an option to activate the switch behind the seat by simply lifting the armrest.

Magnetic Footplate

The K2 Mk3 now includes a magnetic footplate catch that makes it even easier to get in and out of the chair. It can also be used to fold down the chair for transport.

Handrims

Oval-shaped, easy-grip anti-freeze plastic rims for those who want them! Most of our customers are happy popping on a pair of gloves and grabbing the tyres, so these are optional.

We recommend removing these on attendant setups to make the chair narrower.

Featured upgrade options

Umbrella System

The umbrella system mounts to the front of the seat but can easily be stowed when not in use.

Remote Tilt

Patented tilt-in-space mechanism can be activated by gently lifting the armrest.

Coloured Seat

You can customise the outside of the off-road Trekinetic K2 in over 200 colours to make your chair a bit more you.

Service & Maintenance

Maintain Peak Performance with Regular Servicing

Regular maintenance is essential to keep your wheelchair performing at its best. By following this simple checklist, you can extend the life of your wheelchair and ensure your safety and comfort.

Daily Checks

  • Ensure the wheelchair rolls without resistance.
  • Check for vibrations, unusual noises, or any changes you notice.
  • Confirm that the wheel locks are working correctly.
  • Check the tyres: low pressure, flat spots, or signs of wear.
  • Listen for irregular noises or rattles that may indicate loose components.

Weekly Checks

  • Use a tyre gauge to check the tyre pressure.
  • Check the tension of the seat upholstery. It should maintain a straight angle when the wheelchair is open and positioned.

Monthly Checks

  • Inspect the wheel alignment to ensure proper tracking.
  • Check the fork bearings to confirm they are moving freely without stiffness.

Yearly Checks

  • Schedule a complete inspection with Recare's qualified technicians to address deeper maintenance needs and ensure optimal performance.

Tyre Pressure Adjustment

The owner or an assistant can perform Tyre pressure adjustments with the appropriate tools. Maintaining the correct pressure is crucial for smooth rolling and improved manoeuvrability.
