Award-winning Dreeft wheels launch at Naidex - now available from Recare

Recare, the rehabilitation and healthcare equipment specialist, is now supplying the pioneering new Dreeft wheels which won 'Best in Show' at Naidex 2025.

Dreeft wheels are manufactured in France by Eppur and incorporate the world's first braking system for manual wheelchairs. This precision engineered solution drastically reduces the braking force exerted through a user’s hands. With an 80% reduction in the manual strength required to slow wheels, rubbing and burning of user hands against the push rims has been eliminated. This means negotiating steep downhill descents is now considerably easier for wheelchair owners with limited hand grip function and strength.

Dreeft wheels are also the ideal companion for rear mounted power add-on devices, such as the Yomper+, when the braking and turning forces needed for reliable control are so much higher. Compatible with rigid and folding manual wheelchairs, user hands are no longer 'brake pads' with the revolutionary Dreeft wheel system from Recare.

On day one of Naidex 2025, the editor of Able magazine reviewed the Dreeft wheels as they were nominated for the publication's 'Best in Show' Award. When compared to the other entries received, they were recognised as clear winners and hence the distributor Susurro was awarded the accolade at the exhibitor drinks event. Dan Sutton at Susurro said:

"They are truly a game changer and a world's first for wheelchair users" and added: 'Naidex 2025 has been a success for us and our retailers, such as Recare, and I would like to thank all our peers who have made this happen."

Away from the award ceremony, Recare had a successful Naidex as its expert team was able to engage face to face with healthy numbers of end users. There was also a visit from Team Brit racing driver Aaron Morgan who came to meet Recare Managing Director Richard Holland Oakes. Aaron and all visitors had the opportunity to test, trial and compare an impressive range of quality wheelchairs, powerchairs, power add-ons and specialist musculoskeletal and neuro smart technology from its subsidiary company, Rebotics Technology. Feedback from all clients was positive with many clinical home consultations booked for product suitability assessments.
