Benefits at a Glance

Adjustable arm and head support

The armrests on the Start Multi are easy to adjust to five positions via a push button, plus the headrest has a high-resilience foam and breathable cover. The head support can be adjusted in 2 directions – height and depth.

Height-adjustable leg supports

The Start Multi has five predefined positions of elevating leg support for symmetrical positioning. The leg supports are easy to release & adjust.

Adjustable resting position

The reclined position of the Start Multi is perfect for a break or a short nap. By combining seat angle tilt, adjustable back recline, and height-adjustable footrests, an almost flat position can be achieved in no time.

Seat angle tilt

As standard, the Start Multi can be tilted via gas springs from -5° to 30°. The tilt can be released with a hand lever at the push handles.

Adjustable back recline

The back recline on the Start Multi is continuously adjustable via a gas spring from 90° to 120°. It can then be easily released with a hand lever.

Anti-tipper wheels.

The Start Multi’s swivelling support wheel can be folded in and out. When the support wheel is unfolded, the wheelchair is tip-resistant, and when it is folded, the wheelchair can be tilted to overcome curbs, for example.

Ergonomic seat cushion and backrest.

The ergonomic seat cushion and backrest on the Start Multi set a new standard for comfort. The elevating leg supports flexibly cater to each individual’s needs. Additionally, the Start Multi features an adjustable head support, arm support, a pelvic belt for safety and proper positioning, plus two anti-tippers for maximum safety during use.

Hip Abductor Pommel

You can choose to have the Start Multi with a hip abductor pommel. This is ideal for those who need to keep their legs in a comfortable position as it provides ideal abduction of the hip joint. The pommel has multiple adjustments to ensure a natural and comfortable fit.

At Recare, we specialise in mobility, rehabilitation, and seating solutions to improve comfort, posture, and pressure management for wheelchair and powerchair users. Our expert in-house seating specialists work closely with you and your healthcare professional—whether an occupational therapist (OT) or physiotherapist—to ensure you receive the best seating support.

Choosing the Right Seating Solution for Your Needs

We offer three levels of seating assessments, from essential wheelchair seating prescriptions to advanced, custom-moulded solutions for complex postural and pressure relief needs.

Level 1: Standard Seating Evaluation (Free of charge: Included in your product assessment)

Our standard assessment ensures your wheelchair or powerchair has the right cushion and backrest for your needs. Whether in our clinic or at home, this service is part of your tailored wheelchair assessment to maximise comfort and mobility.

Level 2: Pressure Mapping Assessment (Assessment rate £450)

A Recare seating specialist will conduct a pressure mapping assessment to prevent pressure sores and discomfort. The assessment produces a live visual representation of the pressure areas in your seating, which is the most popular method for assessing the suitability of your current seating. To test alternative options to find a seating solution better suited for you based on comparing live visual data.

Level 3: Advanced Complex Seating Assessment (Free in the clinic)

We offer a comprehensive complex seating assessment for individuals requiring specialist seating solutions. In partnership with Ottobock specialists, we use 3D digital moulding technology to design a custom seating system that enhances stability, support, and pressure relief.

Service & Maintenance

Maintain Peak Performance with Regular Servicing

Regular maintenance is essential to keep your wheelchair performing at its best. By following this simple checklist, you can extend the life of your wheelchair and ensure your safety and comfort.

Daily Checks

  • Ensure the wheelchair rolls without resistance.
  • Check for vibrations, unusual noises, or any changes you notice.
  • Confirm that the wheel locks are working correctly.
  • Check the tyres: low pressure, flat spots, or signs of wear.
  • Listen for irregular noises or rattles that may indicate loose components.

Weekly Checks

  • Use a tyre gauge to check the tyre pressure.
  • Check the tension of the seat upholstery. It should maintain a straight angle when the wheelchair is open and positioned.

Monthly Checks

  • Inspect the wheel alignment to ensure proper tracking.
  • Check the fork bearings to confirm they are moving freely without stiffness.

Yearly Checks

  • Schedule a complete inspection with Recare's qualified technicians to address deeper maintenance needs and ensure optimal performance.

Tyre Pressure Adjustment

The owner or an assistant can perform Tyre pressure adjustments with the appropriate tools. Maintaining the correct pressure is crucial for smooth rolling and improved manoeuvrability.
